Bank of England Insurance Taxonomy 2.2.0: What’s Changing for Solvency UK Reporting?

The Bank of England has published version 2.2.0 of its Insurance Taxonomy, implementing the latest technical changes to Solvency UK reporting following PRA Policy Statement PS18/26.

The new taxonomy applies to reporting reference dates on or after 31 December 2026, with submissions using the updated frameworks from 1 January 2027.

What has changed in Taxonomy 2.2.0

One of the main additions is the new Market Assessment and Liquidity Information Reporting (MALIR) framework, with dedicated modules and entry points introduced as part of Taxonomy 2.2.0.

The release also includes changes across the existing:

• Public Disclosure (DIS)
• Insurance Reporting (IR)
• Internal Model Outputs (IMO)
• Market Assessment (MAL)

These are accompanied by updates to data point definitions, business validation rules and validation packages.

For reporting teams, the important technical change is therefore not simply a new taxonomy version. Taxonomy 2.2.0 introduces new reporting structures alongside changes to existing ones, which need to be reflected in the process used to prepare and generate the XBRL submission.

Taxonomy 2.2.0 in DPM Authority

DPM Authority supports Bank of England insurance reporting directly from the regulator’s underlying DPM taxonomy.

The taxonomy is presented through reporting tables generated from the Bank of England taxonomy, allowing users to populate the required data directly or import it from existing sources without working with the underlying XBRL schemas.

DPM Authority uses that data to generate the XBRL instance document and validates the report against the taxonomy’s technical and business validation rules before submission.

Support for Taxonomy 2.2.0 will include the new and updated reporting structures introduced by the Bank of England, including the MALIR framework.

This allows existing DPM Authority users to move to Taxonomy 2.2.0 within the same reporting process they already use for Bank of England submissions.
